Natural Resources and Environment in Development Cooperation

Sustainable use of natural resources ensures the basis for a reliable food production, the provision of vital ecosystem services and a healthy environment. Natural resources are vital for maintaining and improving long-term living conditions for entire societies, in particular those of disadvantaged population groups being most vulnerable in case of changing environmental conditions. By promoting the sustainable use of land, water and forest resources, SDC and its partners commit to the local implementation of the multilateral environmental agreements on climate change, biodiversity and combating desertification.
